This playlist shows the three finalists of the Youth Business International Entrepreneur Awards 2011.

The Prince’s Youth Business International, one of Prince Charles’s charities, is actively supporting young entrepreneurs in 38 countries around the world. With an annual award the charity is encouraging the efforts to create employment and alleviate poverty. The challenge is enormous: over three billion people will be under the age of 25 in 2015. If these young adults can’t find jobs there will be war.
Production Notes:

I greatly enjoyed using my documentary skills to produce these three inspiring reports. It was refreshing to focus on positive stories that offer solutions on the difficult challenges in today’s world.
Often I feel media organisations rely far too much on the fear factor to attract audiences. It is very annoying to see how terrorists and maniacs grab larger headlines than stories about people who are trying to make the world a better place. The reports about the YBI Entrepreneurs offered an opportunity to swim against the tide and give voices to those who have none.
It is truly encouraging to see how an illiterate labourer like Haja Funyamin in Chennai, India managed to create 40 jobs with a frozen food business. His fellow entrepreneurs from Israel and Canada are also very impressive. They all should become role models for many other young people around the globe.
These reports are great examples illustrating how videos are often very effective in communicating complex messages to a global internet audience.
For each 7 minute video I spent about 1 to 2 days filming. Editing took me 3 to 4 days and I managed to do most of the translations on location.
